This collab concept was made for my coursework in the Graphic Information Technologies program at Arizona State University.

La Croix x Fruitstripe Collab

An ad for an imaginary collaboration between Fruit Stripe gum and La Croix sparkling water.

Audience: Nostalgic Gen X and Millennials – both of these groups tend to drink sparkling water often and most likely chewed Fruit Stripe gum as kids.

Intended Impact: Attention-grabbing, energetic, eclectic, purposely gaudy. Design decisions you made to achieve this impact: Bright garish colors from the branding of Fruit Stripe Gum paired with Yipes, the technicolor Zebra Mascot, emphasize the energetic and frenetic feeling of a sugar high. I put images of the sticks of gum behind the can overtop a gradient to have a sunburst effect, and mirror the sunburst I created with the same stripe pattern on the can itself. I placed Yipes on a skateboard on top of the entire image, as he would appear on the iconic tattoos from the Fruit Stripe gum wrappers, and to harken back to a sport that was very on trend for the 80’s to early 2000’s. I chose a pastel gradient behind the entire image with a round sans-serif grotesk font to soften the composition and elevate it to reach a grown-up audience but still hold onto some nostalgia.
