Here are select freehand works with chalkboards, chalk ink, and hand lettering spanning several years of experience and many various scales.
Starbucks Chalkboards
Over the many years I worked at Starbucks Coffee company, I had the privilege to design and create a wide variety of chalkboard art, ranging from seasonal promotions to community boards to name tags. The A-frame designs increased average ticket amounts by 15%, and the community boards drew significant increases in community engagement and customer connection scores by 10 points. These examples are selected works from 2020-2023, and include a promotional window design for Starbucks’ 50th anniversary celebration.
Hand-lettered personalized Cups
Also while employed at Starbucks, my manager asked me to create unique designs for my coworkers with their names on them. Each name was done freehand, and used a lettering style unique to each individual. I took extra care to use materials and sealants to ensure they would be longlasting and dishwasher safe, using Angelus leather paints with their 2-hard additives and sealants. I created over 30 of these cups, and 5 of them are displayed here.
Ministry Chalk promotions
As a volunteer at Crosspoint Church, I designed several promotional chalkboard pieces that matched sermon series themes, as well as replicated design materials from VBS curriculum. There were two separate boards, which gave me the opportunity to experiment with different layouts within a similar theme, as well as practice large scale chalk art work. These are select work examples from my work with these boards.
